The upcoming 2019 Nissan Xterra will arrive next year for the first time after it was discounted back in 2015. New Xterra is a crossover SUV that offers a new look, new features and much more. Nissan believes that the refreshed exterior design will attract the customers once again, and some radical moves will happen in the interior too. The 2019 Xterra will ride on the platform of the Nissan Navara truck and overall, the new model will look nothing like the 2015 Xterra.
2019 Nissan Xterra will ride on a new platform
When it comes to the exterior of the new 2019 Nissan Xterra, it will be based on a couple of company’s models. Xterra will most likely ride on Navara’s platform, and some styling cues will be taken from Frontier, Pathfinder and Rogue models. There are plenty of new adjustments, especially on the front and rear fascias.
That includes a new grille design and reshaped LED headlights. The hood is also new, and at the rear Nissan opted for a more rounded approach. The bumper is revised and the taillights are all-new. Generally, the overall appearance is rugged but it looks modern and upscale instead of aging and outdated.
2019 Nissan Xterra interior is equipped with latest high-tech features
The 2019 Nissan Xterra will come with a completely new interior that will share almost nothing with its predecessor. Moreover, the 2015 Xterra showed signs of aging even three years ago. The cabin is equipped with latest high-tech features and everything inside is in a more logical layout than before. To be exact, everything is more logical, even the design, the shapes and plenty of infotainment features.
This 3-row crossover SUV owns a good safety rating thanks to the front side airbags, traction control, stability control and blind spot warning. The cloth seats are comfortable in all three rows and are slightly raised. The headroom is ample, just like the legroom.
2019 Nissan Xterra engine
The approaching 2019 Nissan Xterra is powered by a 2.3-liter V6 engine. This unit is capable of producing up to 187 HP and 223 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 4WD is available as well, the acceleration and fuel economy are much better with this option loaded. This engine can be found in Renault’s lineup of crossovers and it showed some amazing characteristics.
The fuel economy is rated at 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. With 4WD loaded, the rating is 17/22. There is also some speculation circling about the Xterra will keep an old Duramax 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. What we know for certain is a gas alternative that will replace the 4.0-liter V6 drivetrain from the second-generation of this model.
2019 Nissan Xterra price and release date
The latest Nissan’s crossover will arrive in the first quarter of 2019 and it will cost around $27,000. There is no official pricing information, however, the 2015 model cost around $23,500. With that in mind, and with competitors prices in mind, the 2019 Nissan Xterra can’t cost below $25,000 and over $30,000.
